B2B Events have got the New Year off to a flying start with a rise in attendance at their January fairs. Overall the first events of the year have showed a marked increase on their January 2011 gate figures.

“It’s been a great start to 2012” said Alan Yourston, Director of B2B Events. “Attendance was up by as much as fifty percent at one of our events and we couldn’t have hoped for better results to begin our calendar for this year.” January saw the Malvern Flea and Collectors Fair take place on the 8th, the Detling International Antiques & Collectors Fair take place on the 14th and 15th and the Malvern Antiques & Collectors Fair on the 29th. The organisers were blessed with good weather at all of the events, which Alan acknowledges, would have helped bring the buyers out: “The B2B weather fairy was well and truly with us last month!” exclaimed Alan, “The sun shone down on all event days - ensuring buyers - public and professional alike, could be tempted out from their winter refuges and into the fairs”.

The Malvern Flea saw just over 3,800 visitors to its first outing of 2012. This was a fantastic increase on last January’s Worcestershire event which attracted 560 fewer buyers. A good number of stallholders took part in the event with 140 outdoor and 250 inside. The increase in attendance was well received by stallholders who reported good sales. The trade gate at the Detling event was particularly good, with over 484 dealers visiting (124 up on January 2011) contributing to an overall visitor figure of 2,800. Stallholders also reported good trading at this event, which saw 60 outside pitches and 187 stalls feature – a reasonable number for the time of year. The Malvern Antiques & Collectors Fair saw attendance rise by fifty percent, when compared to last year’s figures. The trade gate was up by 160 and the overall attendance up by 600 - 1,800 in total - a phenomenal result for this popular event.

B2B Events now hope that February’s fairs will follow the trend set by January. And with the Edinburgh Antiques & Collectors Fair, which took place this weekend, being a complete sell out it’s got off to a very promising start. www.b2bevents.info
